(Based on Felipe's Death by Olga Traba)*
Audience members begin by choosing between red and blue glasses, which determine what parts of the visual scene they are able to see. Red glasses reveal blue illustrations; blue glasses reveal red. Both reveal purple. As a result, each audience group experiences a different version of the story, and identifies a different murderer.
This performance is based on a research project exploring the “puppet” as a metaphorical tool for visualizing dramatic events in documentary theatre. The central figure is an unreliable narrator whose character shifts between police officer, clown, and magician. Through the use of pop-up paper structures, photographs, and various objects, the narrator presents a fictional murder case, attempting to frame it as if it were a real documentary event.
Objects are cast as characters based on their physical function, including everyday items and magic props that transform during the performance. The narrator interacts directly with the audience, sometimes asking them to supply objects for the case.
