Steel, Digital Display, Glass Flower Vase, Acrylic Sheet, Black Velvet, Camera, Speaker
This interactive sculpture resembles a threat. There is a live camera capturing the viewer’s body as a holographic image in a glass flower vase inside the piece. Two versions appear: one rendered in hot pink in real time, and the other in green with a 30-second delay. Viewers can manipulate the pitch and speed of a distorted police siren with their bodies. The sculpture operates as a feedback loop, part of an ongoing research into the power dynamic between the controller and the controlled.
This work was part of my MA exhibition “ I Will Become a Flower and Sit Next to you” Ana Mendieta Gallery, Visual Arts Building, University of Iowa
